SUMMARY:Winter Concert\, Skipton: Fauré Requiem with the York RI Band
DESCRIPTION:\nSkipton Choral Society is joined by York Railway Institute Ba
nd for an evocative autumn concert of powerful choral music enriched by th
e warmth and colour of brass in new arrangements for choir and brass band.
\n\nGabriel Fauré’s Requiem forms the centrepiece of the programme\, a
tender and deeply expressive work whose flowing melodies and rich harmonie
s offer comfort\, hope and peace. The concert also includes Fauré’s bea
utiful Cantique de Jean Racine\, alongside the stirring Easter Hymn from P
ietro Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana. Directed by David Lancaster and R
obert Webb\, the choir and band come together at Skipton Town Hall to give
world premiere performances of arrangements for brass band and choir\, br
inging a fresh sound to these much-loved works. If glorious choral singing
and the rich resonance of live brass are what you’re looking for\, be s
ure to book early for what promises to be a memorable evening.\nFor ticket
